About Us

About Brazen Lot

Brazen Lot is both a physical film studio aka lot; and a content creation aka production company. We are progressive, inspired creators producing films, TV, cutting edge digital content, and narrative driven virtual reality.

Formerly Cobbstar Productions, Brazen Lot was born from the global success and notoriety from hit projects like: ELLLIE & ABBIE (& Ellie’s Dead Aunt), PATRICIA MOORE, DREAM CHANNEL, THE HORIZON & THE RESERVOIR ROOM.

Led by founder Brian Cobb with over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry, our mandate is to foster and support the next generation of Australian storytellers and production specialists.

Now adding a live music and performance focus to our repertoire, we are platforming the best entertainment Sydney has to offer.

BRIAN COBB

Founder

After graduating 3-years of drama school in 2001, a passion for story and entertainment was unleashed. For the next 10-years while auditioning with limited success, I produced and directed many theatre shows all around Sydney and Canberra (where I grew up), so our community of actors could stay match fit whilst honing our craft.

Around 2009 I realised my career in this wonderful industry wasn’t going to be in front of the camera, so I explored film & TV producing.

Graduating from the AFTRS Producing and Screen Business course in 2011, I used these 2-years to produce as many films as possible. I walked away with a kick arse show reel to venture into my newfound career.

In 2013, Australia’s Screen Producing Guild chose me for their 'Ones To Watch' program and in 2014 Screen Australia chose me in their talent escalation program, ‘Enterprise People’.

THE HORIZON digital series was my first project. We were one of the first companies to use YouTube as a narrative storytelling platform. A partnership with the AIDS Council of NSW and set in the LGBTIQ+ world of Oxford Street Sydney, this series found a huge online audience and gave a loud and proud voice to an extremely misrepresented community. We produced 8 seasons.

Due to the success of THE HORIZON, I attracted Stephan Elliott of PRISCILLA fame to direct a one-hour version of the series, funded by Screen Australia. My first feature film INDIGO LAKE soon followed, and my career was in full swing.

In 2017, via a City of Sydney Grant, I won the keys to an amazing FILM & TV studio in Paddington Town Hall where BRAZEN LOT now lives.

PATRICIA MOORE, a high-end 10-episode x 10-minute horror/thriller was next to be green-lit thanks to my close relationships with the French. Our cast of Danielle Cormack, Les Hill, Marlo Kelly and Joe Klocek was first class.

DREAM CHANNEL, our most experimental project, was born from film school with creator Jonny Peters and has seen 10 years of dedicated work across film, VR, AR &  now immersive theatre. Extremely sassy, risqué and full of heart, DREAM CHANNEL continues to evolve and trail-blaze as a cutting-edge fusion of film, music. fashion and technology.

ELLIE & ABBIE (& ELLIE’S DEAD AUNT): our most recent feature film continues to set the world alight. With a cast of Marta Dusseldorp, Rachel House & Zoe Terakes and cinema distribution via ARCADIA, International sales are rising fast and we couldn’t be prouder.

During covid-19 we flipped the studio into a live music venue and platformed Sydney’s best musicians including: Phil Jamieson, iOTA, Ursula Yovich, Rai Thistlewayte, Sister2Sister, Tim Draxl, Elenoa Rokobara, Matt Copley, Mandy Bishop, Phil Scott, Erica Heynatz, Ruben K, & Mia Morrissey. This ran simultaneously with a variety show ‘Friday Night Live @ The Res’ in partnership with the Good News Week Team: hosted by Rodger Corser and Catherine Alcorn.

With the post covid dawn fast approaching, we are up for anyone and anything, just make sure you and the project are entertaining, will attract an audience and are 100% Brazen.
